Venator LAND O'LAKES — The deputies arrived Monday afternoon with a warrant for Charles Preston Venator who was accused of violating his probation for a 2008 DUI.

But first Venator, 27, needed to get dressed.

"We allowed the subject to put on a pair of shorts while we stood on either side of him," the Pasco County Sheriff's Office report said.

Venator used that moment to dart out of his house at 21924 Ocean Pines Drive, run toward the lake and dive off the dock, deputies said.

He swam across the lake, but deputies borrowed a boat and caught up with him as he reached the shore, the report said.

Venator was charged with resisting arrest without violence, violation of probation and an unrelated charge of grand theft. He remained at the Land O'Lakes jail Tuesday in lieu of $5,650 bail.
